Abstract

Good lighting system is one of the important factors that affect the convenience of the users of the building. The rooms get light in two ways, namely natural light during the day and artificial lighting of the lamp. Generally, the room has a glass window, which is a transparent media that can pass the light of day from the outdoors into the room. Daylight is composed of light emanating from direct sunlight, diffuse sky light, and the reflected light from the environment. To get natural light into a space required large windows or glass walls at least 1/6 of the floor space. This study was conducted to determine the best variant of the openings of the three variants of the common openings in the design architect, which is based on the position of the window opening in the corner, on the edge and in the middle. Distribution intensity of incoming light by large window openings will be a tool for comparing the position of the window of the best in the spread of illuminance calculations Sky Component (SC) and Daylight Factor (DF). Consideration of the three variants of the openings will be analyzed by Standard Deviation (S) and the mean value (μ) of the illuminance distribution data on the room. The results showed that the distribution of illuminance on the affected space and position of the window openings, it is useful for architects in making decisions opening position without any reflection of external and internal factors (IRC and ERC).
