Abstract

In Surabaya there are still many level crossings, namely between the highways and the railways. The railway level crossing consists of a railway level crossing with a cross bar and a railway level crossing without a cross bar. The existence of a railway level crossing will cause congestion, which is the queue length of vehicles that stop due to a train passing at a railway level crossing. The congestion will get worse if the volume of vehicles approaching the railway level crossing increases and the closing time of the railway level crossing is longer. In addition, the duration of the closure of an erratic railway level crossing causes road users to become undisciplined by breaking through a railway level crossing when a train passes. That is makes the accident rate at the railway level crossing increase. Based on the problem, two models will be created, the first model is the relationship between the duration of closing the railway level crossing with the length and speed of the train. The second model is the relationship between the duration of closing time the railway level crossing and the queue length of vehicles. Each of these models will be made on a railway level crossing with a cross bar and a railway level crossing without a cross bar. It was to find out the difference between the model made at the railway level crossing with a cross bar and the railway level crossing without a cross bar. The methodology applied is the survey data is then analysed using the Road Capacity Guidelines of Indonesia (PKJI) 2014 and queueing analysis method in accordance with the driving behaviour in the field. From the data and results of the analysis is then modelled using linear regression methods. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between the length of the train and the duration of the closing time of the railway level crossing and the negative relationship between the speed of the train and the duration of the closing time of the railway level crossing. While the relationship between the duration of the closing time of the railway level crossing and the queue length of vehicles has a positive influence. The result applies to the railway level crossing with a cross bar and at the railway level crossing without a cross bar.
