The direct-mix geopolymer promises great potential to broaden the application and favorable alternative binder to Portland cement. To the best of our knowledge, the work on the direct-mix geopolymer system is scarce thus far. Details work on the preparation and performance of direct-mix geopolymers are limited. Hence, in this study, a comprehensive study on the preparation methods, formulation and characterization of geopolymer powder and thus the direct-mix geopolymer is studied. The long-term strength development and durability of the direct-mix geopolymer are also investigated. It is believed that this research work will be the fundamental study on processing methods and mechanism of direct-mix geopolymer system.
The objectives of this research are:
1. To investigate the new methods and optimum formulation to produce geopolymer powder in order to achieve direct-mix geopolymer with desired properties.
2. To determine the reaction mechanism to form direct-mix geopolymers
3. To compare and examine the quality (physical properties, mechanical properties and characteristic) of the direct-mix geopolymers (as compared to the two-part mix geopolymer).
