Abstract

The city form is an expression of culture in the dimension of time and space. The structuring of the city should be rooted in the cultural society and refer to a concept that take attention for technical, aesthetics, and socio-cultural aspects simultaneously. The phenomenon becomes basic reason about the importance of study to understand the city forming by looking at the socio-cultural values. The purpose of the study to identify: the sociocultural values of Bugis society, and its implications in the city forming. Socio-cultural values that are studied will be focused on solidarity by using of qualitative methods within the framework of descriptive research. Bugis sociocultural values that refers to the concept of Siri'na Pesse, especially on Pesse value (solidarity), including the values of sipakatau and sipakalebbi'are seen through the lifestyle and social concept of Bugis society.
