Abstract

This paper proposed a method for determining greenspace area by means of time series data for carbon dioxide concentration in the ambient air. Methods of assessment included the sources of carbon dioxide, emissions, vegetation, meteorology, mass accumulation and its rate. The main result was the net mass of carbon dioxide in the ambient air for one day. Hourly time series was applied to determine the net mass of carbon dioxide per volume of air, which was targeted at the zero level. The net mass of carbon dioxide was also dependent on the settlements area, the daily traffic volume, and height measurements of carbon dioxide in the air. All were considered to be the parameters for determining the greenspace area. The implication was greenspace areas could not be generalized to all cities.
