Abstract

Tsunami wave traveled along 6 km has impacted inland area of Aceh and North Sumatra, Indonesia. The natural disaster as a result of marine volcanic activity, leading to tsunami wave, requires prevention measures. Plant species of various heights and density are probably increasing roughness constant of the land surface and hence, wave travel could be minimized. Greenspace along the coastline may be significantly important to suppress wave travel across the coast land. The greenspace width of 0.7 km could be provided to prevent tsunami wave impact similar to that happened and hence, inland area of about 5.3 km could be saved. This review offers a window into the broad reaches of roughness constant in plant ecosystem-scaled research.
