Abstract

This report presents chemical desalination process for sodium chloride-containing water of minimum 10 g NaCl LG1. Effective dose of ferrous sulphate of 50% stoichiometric value in reaction with NaCl could achieve ferric salt removal of more than 99% in sedimentation tank. Silica sand filters used were not substantially able to remove the precipitated ferric salt. The associated water quality parameters such as pH, turbidity, color and total dissolved solids were performed in counterbalance each other.
