Abstract

This research concerned on the effect of adding selenium into the fresh leachate to the ratio of BOD/COD of treated leachate in phytotreatment using Scirpus grossus. Research carried out in greenhouse. Various concentrations of leachate within the toxic level, selenium and plant density were applied in range finding test and definitive test. Results of the definitive test showed that selenium at low concentration was a beneficial nutrient for plant growth. An important finding was BOD/COD ratio of tretaed effluent shifted from toxic level into biodegradable level.
