Abstract

The conversion of existing engine technology and equipment is fitting also widely available. For petrol engines or spark engines there are two choices, two-fuel conversion and use machines dedicated to a single fuel compressed natural gas (CNG) or gas only. The converted diesel engines are designed to operate using natural gas, there are two main options. There are dual-fuel so that the normal combustion of diesel fuel and can be used only with gas only with reference to otto engines. In this study, the gas fuel is used in the vessel main propulsion in an effort to reduce emissions from boat has been assessed, while maintaining power output and torque, and will be compared with the original mover. The methods used in this study is using simulation software by entering the size of the engine components to determine the performance of the original machine and CNG engines, analyze the performance of gas fueled engines and exhaust emissions.The results showed that the use of CNG in diesel engines commonly used as a fishing boat propulsion engine shows that performance has decreased, but the emissions has reduced.
